Jason Brilz enters his 10th season as an assistant coach for the Maverick wrestling program.
Brilz, a four-year letterman at UNO, posted a 63-34 career record. He was a three-time Academic All-American and received his bachelor’s degree in sociology in 2000. He earned a second bachelor’s degree in biology in 2002.
Brilz is a firefighter for the Omaha Fire Department.
Before coming to UNO, Brilz wrestled at Omaha Central High School where he won the Nebraska Class A state championship in 1993 and was an Academic All-American.
Brilz has competed in submission and ultimate fighting. His record in ultimate fighting is 20-1-1. Brilz’ record in submission fighting, boxing, and ultimate fighting is 63-2-1.
Brilz, and his wife Rebecca, have been married for eight years. They have two daughters, four-year-old Evelyn Marie and one-year-old Gabbi.
